SouthPark store to relocate to a new spot in South EndApril 4, 2018
The furniture store Design Within Reach is relocating its SouthPark store to a larger space in South End.
It will take the place of the paint bar Studio Cellar, which recently closed after only about two years on Camden Road.
Studio Cellar is operating as a pop-up business at private parties and at breweries such as Lenny Boy and Unknown before it opens in a new permanent location in South End this summer, owner Charlotte Gaskins told the Observer Wednesday. Studio Cellar, which pairs painting classes with beer and wine, has also used the Fidelli Kitchen space nearby on Camden too, Gaskins said.
Studio Cellar had owned its property at 1800 Camden Road until it was approached by Charlotte-based development firm Asana Partners with an attractive offer, Gaskins said. Property records show Asana bought the site for $1.48 million in February.
Asana owns several other spaces in the 1800 Camden Road building.
Design Within Reach sells living, dining, bedroom, office and outdoor furniture. Manager Jim Levesque said the store's SouthPark location is about 3,200 square feet, and that its new site is more than double that size. He was unsure when the move would take place.
It is unclear what will take the place of the Design Within Reach store on Sharon Road in the Villages of SouthPark.
The shopping complex is owned by Simon Property Group, the Indianapolis company that also owns SouthPark mall. A Simon representative said the company could not yet share what will take the old Design Within Reach spot.Back
