Where Krog Street Market's expansion into full district stands

July 7, 2022

Atlantans who haven’t explored the blocks around Krog Street Market lately might not recognize them.

A year after construction began in earnest to expand the popular Inman Park food and retail hub into a more cohesive district, two new mixed-use buildings—both with brick-clad, throwback aesthetics—have taken shape. Those structures claimed a gravel lot and old industrial building on either side of the overhauled Atlanta Stove Works complex, where a Scotland-based brewery plans to open in coming weeks.

Charlotte-based Asana Partners began acquiring the two landmark Inman Park properties—along with SPX Alley across the BeltLine in Old Fourth Ward—three years ago. The goal is to mesh them together into a more seamless attraction, the Krog District, or what’s been called “an 18-hour destination for locals and visitors.”

This week, Asana reps tell Urbanize Atlanta they expect the parking situation around the Krog Street food hall to quickly improve, as a 186-space parking garage is scheduled to deliver this summer. (That will up the total parking spaces around the Krog District to 558, though a MARTA station and the BeltLine provide transportation alternatives nearby.)

When the new Krog District buildings might deliver wasn’t specified, but we’re told that 27,000 square feet of creative office space has been leased. That leaves about 24,000 square feet available.

“Office tenants are excited about the expanded roster of restaurants and retailers coming onsite,” an Asana rep wrote via email. “[They’re] choosing to be here to recruit and provide their employees with a compelling reason to ditch the home office.”

One new building stands four stories next to Krog Street Market—with the new parking garage concealed within—and the other three stories along the BeltLine’s Eastside Trail. Have a gander at how they’ve come together, alongside other updates in this new Atlanta district, in the gallery above.
