  • Terry S. Brown

    Terry S. Brown

    Managing Partner

    Terry co-founded Asana Partners and is a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He has 34 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in strategy, investments, capital markets, institutional investor relations, and organizational development.

    Prior to launching Asana Partners, Terry was Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of EDENS, a privately held REIT, and Chief Executive Officer of Andersen Corporate Finance, LLC (NASD Broker-Dealer subsidiary of Arthur Andersen), responsible for strategy and investment banking activities. He began his career as a United States Army Officer.

    Terry serves on the Board of Directors of AvalonBay Communities. He was named a 2011 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Regional Award winner and National Finalist. Terry graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

    Managing Partner

    Sam co-founded Asana Partners and is a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He has 20 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in investments, development, asset management, institutional investor relations, and organizational development.

    Prior to launching Asana Partners, Sam was Vice President of Real Estate for Sears Holdings Corporation where he co-led the real estate team in forming and launching Seritage Growth Properties (NYSE: SRG), a publicly traded REIT. Prior to this role, he was a Vice President at EDENS, a privately held REIT, responsible for development, redevelopment, leasing, and operations for the Northeast Region.

    Sam serves on the Board of Directors of Charlotte City Center Partners, a public-private partnership that promotes economic and cultural development in Charlotte. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Real Estate Finance and Development from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bates College.

    Managing Partner

    Jason co-founded Asana Partners and is a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He has 27 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in investments, asset management, operations, capital markets, institutional investor relations, and organizational development.

    Prior to launching Asana Partners, Jason was Chief Financial Officer of EDENS, a privately held REIT; a Vice President with Wachovia Securities’ Real Estate Investment Banking division; a Director with Andersen Corporate Finance, LLC (NASD Broker-Dealer subsidiary of Arthur Andersen); and Vice President of European Mergers & Acquisitions with GE Capital Real Estate in Paris, France.

    Jason serves on the Board of Directors of Liberty Fellowship, a global leadership initiative sponsored by the Aspen Institute, and he is a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hammond School. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.

    Partner

    Seth leads strategy and execution of asset management activities for Asana Partners. He joined the firm in 2016 and serves on the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. Seth has 17 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience covering asset management, portfolio management, leasing, property operations, capital markets, accounting, and tax. 

    Seth joined Asana Partners from Adamant Energy, a real estate focused sustainability solutions provider, where he was Chief Financial Officer. His previous experience includes Vice President of Portfolio Management with EDENS, a privately held REIT, and consulting services with Grant Thornton.

    A Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Carolina, Seth earned a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science degree from Presbyterian College. He is a member of the Hammond School Board of Trustees and serves on its Finance Committee.

    Reed is focused on the strategy and execution of the firm’s development activities which include transforming assets through redevelopment and ground-up densification. Additionally, he oversees investment activity across select target markets. Reed serves on the Executive Committee and Investment Committee and has 15 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in development, joint ventures, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and asset management.  

    Prior to joining Asana Partners in 2016, Reed spent six years at EDENS, a privately held REIT, where he most recently was Vice President of Development, focused on mixed-use projects. He began his career with Accenture.

    Reed graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics.

    Will is responsible for strategy and execution of the firm’s leasing operations across the portfolio, he also has regional responsibility for asset management. He joined Asana Partners in 2018 and serves on the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. Will has 20 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in asset management, leasing, operations, acquisitions, dispositions, development, redevelopment, capital markets, ESG, and organizational development.

    Prior to joining Asana Partners, Will was Vice President of Acquisitions at Phillips Edison & Company; Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Adamant Energy, a real estate focused sustainability solutions provider; and Vice President of Investments at EDENS, a privately held REIT.

    Will is past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Carolina Children’s Home. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Real Estate from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wofford College where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

    Brian has overall responsibility for investments at the firm. He joined Asana Partners in 2015 and serves on the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He has 15 years of commercial real estate and private equity experience in acquisitions, dispositions, development, joint ventures, portfolio management, asset management, and leasing.

    Before joining Asana Partners, Brian was a Director of Portfolio Management and Asset Management at USAA Real Estate Company where he oversaw a portfolio of office and mixed-use assets. Prior to this role, he worked in the office and retail sectors with Lincoln Harris and began his career at CBRE. 

    Brian earned a Master of Business Administration degree with honors from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College.

    Katie has overall responsibility for leasing, national retailer relationship management, and marketing at the firm. She serves on the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. Katie has nine years of commercial real estate experience in leasing, marketing, franchise development, retailer relations, and operations.

    Prior to joining Asana Partners in 2016, Katie was the Director of Franchise Consulting at Pure Barre where she was responsible driving studio-level financial performance and increasing same store sales. Her role included leading operations and consulting across the company’s portfolio.

    Katie actively supports micro-lending organizations in the Charlotte area. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, and she graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Spanish and a Minor in Economics.

    G. Welch Liles, III

    Managing Director

    G. Welch Liles, III is the Managing Director at Asana Partners. Liles has ten years of industry experience in construction management and development.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Liles was a Project Manager for Choate Construction, a leading general contractor and construction management company. While at Choate, Liles was responsible for the contracting, budget management, scheduling, value engineering, and coordination of day to day construction operations for new construction and base build projects. He has executed the completion of over $150 million and 1,000,000 square feet of mixed use, office, and retail developments. Prior to Choate, Liles held a Project Manager position for Balfour Beatty Construction, one of the largest general contractors in the United States.

    Liles is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Liles is an active member of the NAIOP Developing Leaders and the Urban Land Institute.

    Brad M. Kantrowitz, CPA

    Director – Investments

    Brad M. Kantrowitz is a Director – Investments at Asana Partners. Kantrowitz has ten years of real estate experience, including investments, capital markets, portfolio management, and accounting.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Kantrowitz was an Associate with Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Real Estate Investment Banking group where he executed more than $17 billion of real estate and capital markets transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, initial public offerings, and debt financings. Key transactions included the sale of Education Realty Trust to Greystar, Americold Realty Trust’s initial public offering, and acquisition financing for Brookfield’s acquisition of GGP.

    Prior to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Kantrowitz worked at GTIS Partners, a ~$5 billion real estate investment management firm. His responsibilities included acquisitions, portfolio management, and accounting for GTIS Partners’ Brazil funds. Prior to GTIS Partners, Kantrowitz was a Senior Associate with KPMG where he performed financial due diligence and audited real estate firms.

    Kantrowitz earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in Real Estate and Corporate Finance and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  Kantrowitz is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.

  • Matthew P. Muse

    Director – Investments

    Matthew P. Muse is a Director – Investments at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Muse served as a lead Investment Analyst in the Atlanta office of PGIM Real Estate (formerly Prudential Real Estate Investors). At PGIM, Muse assisted in the closing of $1.5 billion of acquisitions and joint venture developments on behalf of various open-end, closed-end, and single-client investment vehicles. Muse handled investment opportunities spanning all property types: retail, office, multifamily, industrial, hotel, and self-storage. Muse was responsible for financial analysis, preparation of investment committee materials, coordination of due diligence efforts through closing, and management of partner/broker relations. PGIM Real Estate manages $66.0 billion of gross assets with a track record spanning over 45 years.

    Muse is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and concentrations in Finance and Real Estate. Muse is actively involved in the Real Estate professional community as a member of ULI and ICSC.

    Senior Director – Asset Management

    Chris R. Dalton is a Senior Director – Asset Management at Asana Partners. Dalton has ten years of commercial real estate experience in capital markets, asset management, sustainability, development, dispositions, site selection, and retail strategy.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Dalton was a Principal at Adamant Energy, a real estate focused sustainability solutions provider. 

    Prior to Adamant Energy, Dalton was the New York Regional Director for Pure Barre, an L Catterton portfolio company and one of the nation’s leading fitness brands with over 450 locations. Additional portfolio companies of L Catterton include, or have included, Restoration Hardware, Fly Wheel, Caribou Coffee, Chopt, Corepower Yoga, and Pirch. In that role, Dalton oversaw the site selection, build-out, opening, and on-going operations of six corporate Pure Barre studios in the greater New York metro area.  Prior to his role in operations, he was the Director of Real Estate, focusing on site selection, lease negotiation, and platform expansion in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Chicago metro areas.

    Prior to Pure Barre, Dalton worked at EDENS, one of the nation’s leading owners, operators, and developers of retail real estate. At EDENS, Dalton completed the company's Financial Management Training Program (“FMP”) and played key roles in capital markets, asset management, acquisitions, dispositions, and development. Upon completion of the FMP, Dalton transitioned to the Northeast Investments team where he was the primary analyst responsible for acquisitions, redevelopment, development, and asset management for more than four million square feet of retail investments.

    Dalton is a graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance.

    Senior Director – Asset Management

    Tom M. FitzGerald is a Senior Director – Asset Management at Asana Partners. FitzGerald has 14 years of real estate value creation experience in leasing, property management and operations, portfolio management, investment underwriting, and tenant and investor relations. Fitzgerald has deep experience and is regarded for his expertise with office leasing strategy and execution in urban, mixed-use neighborhoods.

    Prior to Asana Partners, FitzGerald was an Executive Vice President at JLL, an industry leading commercial real estate services and investment firm. While at JLL, FitzGerald was a critical team member that oversaw execution of over 450 leases totaling more than 6 million square feet and $1.2 billion in lease value primarily in urban, mixed-use neighborhoods.

    Prior to JLL, FitzGerald was a Real Estate Manager with CBRE, the largest commercial real estate services and investment firm. At CBRE, he oversaw asset management of a portfolio including retail, office, industrial, and data centers. FitzGerald started his career in Washington, D.C. with Booz Allen Hamilton serving as a consultant on the Economic and Business Systems Analysis team which was embedded with the Homeland Security Department. 

    FitzGerald earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College.

  • Ashley D. McDonald

    Ashley D. McDonald

    Director – Development

    Ashley D. McDonald is a Director – Development at Asana Partners based in Los Angeles.  McDonald has 13 years of industry experience in development, asset management, and capital markets.

    Prior to Asana Partners, McDonald was Vice President - Asset Management at Sunbelt Investment Holdings, an owner and operator of 3.5 million square feet of neighborhood and community shopping centers and 1,700 acres of developable land in Southern California and Arizona.  At Sunbelt, McDonald was responsible for setting development and leasing strategy, redevelopment of anchor box space, and identifying value-creation redevelopment and development opportunities.  McDonald's roles included financial analysis, development planning, entitlement strategy, and leasing.

    Prior to Sunbelt, McDonald was Vice President - Investments at Pacific Equity Properties, an investment and development firm specializing in urban infill and mixed-use projects.  At Pacific Equity, McDonald played a key role in acquisitions, project capitalization, development planning, entitlements, project management, and leasing.

    McDonald earned a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and she is a graduate of University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

    Brian M. McWeeney is a Director – Asset Management at Asana Partners. McWeeney has industry experience in real estate transaction sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and executing.
     
    Prior to Asana Partners, McWeeney managed acquisitions for Timber Hill Group, a real estate private equity firm focused on value-add industrial and logistics properties. Brian also coordinated construction and financing for Three Ring Studios, a 40-acre media production campus.
     
    Prior to Timber Hill Group, McWeeney was a Director with CBRE’s National Retail Partners Team. McWeeney managed sourcing, financial analysis, and marketing for CBRE’s largest retail investment sales platform. Over the course of his career, Brian has led the underwriting and execution of over $6 Billion of real estate transactions spanning all property types in all major US markets.  
     
    McWeeney earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management with a concentration in Finance and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a double major in both Urban Land Economics and Finance. McWeeney is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

    Director – Portfolio Operations

    Cailey A. Rowe is a Director – Portfolio Operations at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Rowe was an Audit and Assurance Senior with Grant Thornton LLP, where she provided assurance and advisory services to both publicly traded and private companies in industries including construction/home builders, technology distributors, commercial services, and manufacturing.  At Grant Thornton LLP, Rowe was responsible for conducting financial statement audits, including reviewing various transaction cycles and analyzing financial statements.

    Rowe is a member of the United Way of the Midlands Young Leaders Society and volunteers with a variety of local organizations. Rowe earned a Master of Accountancy from the Darla Moore School of Business of the University of South Carolina with a concentration in Business Measurement and Assurance, and she is a graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Minor in Business. Rowe is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Carolina.

    Matthew P. Saylor is a Director – Asset Management at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Saylor was an Associate in Asset Management at Jamestown. At Jamestown, Saylor was responsible for financial analysis, budget and forecasting, lease review, and the preparation of investment committee materials for retail, office and mixed-use assets in Atlanta, New York City, and San Francisco. Saylor also participated in seven disposition transactions with a combined market value of $3.5 billion including the sale of Chelsea Market in New York City.

    Saylor is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Real Estate.

    Clare E. Walsh

    Director – Leasing Strategy

    Clare E. Walsh is a Director – Leasing Strategy at Asana Partners. Walsh has ten years of commercial real estate experience in operations and leasing.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Walsh was a Senior Leasing Representative at Brookfield Properties Retail Group (BPRG), formerly GGP Inc., an S&P 500 retail real estate company. Brookfield Properties Retail Group is one of the largest retail real estate companies in the country with over 160 properties across 42 states, totaling 146 million square feet of retail space. Walsh was responsible for the restaurant leasing of fifteen properties across eight states along the West Coast, totaling over one million square feet.

    Prior to BPRG, Walsh worked for EDENS, one of the nation’s leading owners, operators, and developers of retail real estate. At EDENS, Walsh was responsible for leasing the urban re-development project, Union Market in Washington, DC.

    Walsh is a graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and Marketing. She is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

    Chief Accounting Officer

    Stefan has overall responsibility for property and investment accounting; fund accounting; corporate accounting; treasury; financial and investor reporting; and tax. He joined Asana Partners in 2021 and serves on the Executive Committee. Stefan has 15 years of commercial real estate experience in fund operations, data management solutions, process improvement, financial reporting leadership, and REIT and tax structuring.

    Before joining Asana Partners, Stefan was an Executive Director of PGIM Real Estate. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of Finance and Operations at Brookfield Asset Management where he also served as the Controller. He started his career at PwC.

    Stefan earned a Master of Accountancy degree from the University of North Florida and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of New York.

  • Miki A. O. Kamijyo

    Miki has overall responsibility for corporate legal matters, compliance and regulatory matters, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance). She joined the firm in 2021 and serves on the Executive Committee. Miki has 20 years of experience focusing on real estate and corporate law, compliance and regulatory matters, and ESG.

    Prior to joining Asana Partners, Miki was Managing Director & Chief Compliance Officer of Annaly Capital Management (NYSE: NLY), a publicly traded REIT; Legal Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at GreenOak Real Estate; and Investment Management & Compliance Counsel at Rockefeller Group. Prior to law school, Miki was a Project Engineer at Clark Construction.

    Miki earned a Juris Doctor cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law, and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia.

  • Carol H. Hall

    Senior Director – Business Intelligence

    Carol H. Hall is the Senior Director – Business Intelligence at Asana Partners.  Hall has 33 years of leadership, accounting, and systems experience. Hall leads the business intelligence functions which include portfolio operations, leasing analytics, and technology.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Hall worked as an accounting and reporting systems consultant at Jamestown. Prior to Jamestown, Hall was the Vice President – Portfolio Management at EDENS, one of the nation’s leading owners, operators, and developers of retail real estate. At EDENS, Hall managed the Property Accounting, Portfolio Operations, and Lease Administration teams.  In addition to leading these teams, Hall was responsible for creating value through the delivery of technology-enabled process and analytical tools to the investment management, property management, and leasing teams.  Hall improved the leasing operations data management, streamlined leasing deal flow solutions, and enhanced property forecasting and value creation analysis systems.

    Hall is a cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

  • Jimmy J. Bambrick

    Jimmy J. Bambrick

    Director – Capital Markets

    Jimmy J. Bambrick is a Director – Capital Markets at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Bambrick was an Associate at RBC Capital Markets, where he conducted fundamental research of real estate markets and individual public REITs. At RBC, Bambrick constructed and maintained financial models, performed market analyses, published research notes, and communicated investment recommendations to institutional investors. Bambrick also led the research and writing of topical reports including ‘Street retail rising – a look at the next retail wave’, a detailed assessment of the street retail real estate landscape and its growth potential. While at RBC, the RBC REIT Team climbed to #5 in Institutional Investor’s annual ranking of the nation’s best sell-side analysts.

    Bambrick is a summa cum laude graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Finance.

    Director – People

    Bobbi R. Frieda is the Director – People at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Frieda was a Vice President of Human Resources at Bank of America where she provided leadership consulting to all Employee Technology Support Managers in the company. Prior to Bank of America, Frieda was a Human Resources Manager for H-E-B, the largest grocery retailer in Texas. While at H-E-B, Frieda supported 20 retail locations in Austin, TX totaling over 4,000 employees. Frieda’s responsibilities included employee relations, talent/ leadership development, performance management, career planning, and employee engagement with a focus on culture.

    Frieda received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Leadership Development with an emphasis in Human Resources from Texas A&M University.

    Martha W. Harding is a Director – Corporate Accounting at Asana Partners.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Harding was an Audit and Assurance Senior with Elliott Davis Decosimo, LLC, where she provided assurance and advisory services to a diverse client base, including those within the real estate investment industry.  At Elliott Davis Decosimo, LLC, Harding managed and conducted comprehensive financial audits, including the performance of risk assessments, review and testing of internal controls, and the preparation of consolidated financial statements.

    Harding has been a volunteer camp counselor with Camp Kemo Programs for the past ten years and is a member of the United Way of the Midlands Young Leaders Society. Harding earned a Master of Accountancy from the Darla Moore School of Business of the University of South Carolina with a concentration in Business Measurement and Assurance, and she is a magna cum laude graduate of Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.  Harding is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Carolina.

    Director – Treasury

    Erika S. Kovacs is the Director – Treasury at Asana Partners.  Kovacs has over 20 years of accounting experience, including eight in the real estate industry.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Kovacs was the Supervisor of Accounts Payable and Accounting at SCANA Corporation. Prior to this role, during her 13 years at SCANA Corporation, Kovacs held positions in Property Accounting, Internal Audit, and Budgeting and Forecasting. Kovacs was instrumental in several software implementations and conversions and in identifying process improvements and working with cross-functional teams across the organization to implement change.

    Prior to SCANA Corporation, Kovacs was a Regional Property Accounting Manager at EDENS, one of the nation’s leading owners, operators and developers of retail real estate. She led a team of retail property accountants in the accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end close and financial statement processes. Kovacs was responsible for producing consolidated property financial statements and providing variance analysis, and she led the Accounts Payable software conversion to JDE.

    Kovacs earned a Master of Accountancy from the Darla Moore School of Business of the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. Kovacs is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Carolina.

    Chris M. Pfeifer is the Director – Technology at Asana Partners.  Pfeifer has 23 years of industry experience, including defining and influencing technology strategy, designing and implementing enterprise-level real estate technology solutions, relationship management, and client delivery.  Pfeifer has overall responsibility for foundational and core technology excellence. 

    Prior to Asana Partners, Pfeifer was the Global Account Technology Director for JLL.  Pfeifer led the strategy, management, and evolution of a large technology portfolio in support of the workplace of the future.  During his tenure with JLL, Pfeifer spearheaded the planning, design, implementation, and ongoing operation of a real estate technology innovation center which ultimately became a showcase for the future of work, visited and adopted by several Fortune 500 clients. 

    Prior to JLL, Pfeifer was the Innovative Technology Manager for Compass Group.

    Pfeifer is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems.

    Director – Investment Accounting

    Saad A. Sheikh is the Director – Investment Accounting at Asana Partners. Sheikh has overall responsibility for the accounting and financial reporting of all investments. Sheikh has 12 years of real estate experience in investment accounting, property and fund operations, REIT and tax structuring, systems and process improvement, and financial reporting.

    Prior to Asana Partners, Sheikh was an Assistant Vice President - Manager Investment Accounting at Nuveen Real Estate, a real estate investment manager with $138 billion of real estate assets under management. While at Nuveen, Sheikh was responsible for property accounting, fund accounting, financial reporting, and cash management for several open-end and closed-end funds and a flagship non-traded REIT. He led several process automation projects and was a key liaison with the fund administrator for continuous process improvement and ongoing fund launches. Sheikh started his career at Horwath Chartered Accountants, providing audit services to real estate developers.

    Sheikh is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a global accounting association and a graduate of the University of Cambridge with an Advance Level Certificate in Accounting.
